My Faves: 10 Game Sequels I'd Like To See In 2010

Face it - whether we like it or not, new game sequels are coming out this year. Given this revelation, I decided to sit down and come up with the top 10 sequels I'd like to see by year's end. Keep in mind that I only vaguely looked up what games are coming out this year, and this is more of a wishlist than anything.

Here is my list of sequels I DON"T want to see in 2010.

In alphabetical order:

Beyond Good and Evil 2
We've been taunted, teased and neglected when it comes to new info about the sequel to one of the best last-gen games. Wouldn't it be nice if it just showed up on store shelves this year?

BioShock 2
It's been over two years since we last visited Rapture, and BioShock 2's imminent release couldn't come at a better time. Frankly, its initial 2009 release date felt too soon, but 2010 feels just right. Here's to hoping that it'll be as good as the first.

Dead Space 2
The first Dead Space showed a lot of promise, but little variety. I think that two years is sufficient time to update the IP with just enough new stuff to keep us going. Since the graphics have already been established, I'm assuming they can now focus more squarely on content.

Final Fantasy XIII
Granted, this one's a given considering its March 2010 release date is just about set in stone, but I am really looking forward to getting into a next-gen Square/Enix RPG. I haven't played a Final Fantasy game in earnest since 2002, so this one's overdue.

Gears of War 3
There was a two-year gap between the first two Gears of War games, and 2010 would be another two years. I'm actually really looking forward to the next game, so long as it's the LAST game in the series. Lord knows, we've got enough endless sequels floating around.

God of War III
Again, this one's a no-brainer considering it's destined to come out this year, but I wanted to give it its due props.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3
I haven't heard anything about the next episode in the Half-Life universe, but it's been almost three years, so I think it's about time that we wrapped things up.

Jak and Daxter
This is mostly just a pipe dream, but I would love it if Naughty Dog (the team behind our 2009 GOTY, Uncharted 2) went back and did a reboot/sequel of the Jak and Daxterseries. It's my favorite 3D platformer, with a perfect blend of platforming, collecting, and diverse gameplay.

The Last Guardian
I'm not sure if this one will hit our shores by 2011, but I'd like to see this sequel-of-sorts from Team Ico on my PS3 by year's end. It looks to capitalize on the best features of their past two games, and close the franchise in a next-gen way.

Out of this World 2
Another pipe drea, but I'd love to see a next-gen update to the stunning SNES/Genesis game Out of this World. I think that's the only time you can use the word "stunning" with 16-bit games, by the way.
