My Gripes: 10 Game Sequels I Don't Want To See In 2010

Face it - whether we like it or not, new game sequels are coming out this year. Given this revelation, I decided to sit down and come up with the top 10 sequels I don't want to see by year's end. Keep in mind that I only vaguely looked up what games are coming out this year, and this is more of a whine list than anything.

Here is my list of games that I would like to see in 2010.

In alphabetical order:

Braid 2
Let this be a warning - if any game developer tries to take a game that was a perfect standalone title and squeeze some life/money out of it, I will cry. Like a baby.

Call of Duty 7
Give it a rest. I repeat, give it a rest. This shit's gonna turn into Tony Hawk if they keep churning out endless sequels like they have for the past five years. Rumor has it that this game will be set during the Vietnam War, which is slightly interesting, but I'm still not convinced we need ANOTHER Call of Duty so soon.

Dante's Inferno (aka God of War 1.5)
Not a sequel per se, but it reeks so much of wannabe God of War that it should be stopped in its tracks. Don't believe me? You obviously didn't play the demo.

Guitar Hero Anything
This franchise became a joke two years ago, when they started pushing out endless sequels and band-specific titles. I need at least another year off.

Left 4 Dead 3
There was only a year between the first two games, so in another year are we going to see the next? I hope not. Spend your time and manpower working on Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or a follow-up to Portal, Valve!

Lost Planet 2
The first Lost Planet was one of the first games I played on the Xbox 360, and it left me seriously doubting this generation of games. I hated it so much. Anyway, I'm thinking a sequel isn't going to improve the series drastically. Oftentimes, sequels to Capcom games don't do too well (read: Devil May Cry).

Medal of Honor: Modern Warfare
I don't know what this new Medal of Honor game is subtitled, nor do I care. I would have preferred the developers maybe just jump ahead one war, not piggyback on Call of Duty. I'd love to play a game set in the Korean War next.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands
I may be alone here, but I really liked the last Prince of Persia game. It was beautiful and had a really good, open-ended ending. Which would have been great for a sequel. Instead, we're getting a sequel to the 2003 Sands of Time game. What's going on here?

Red Steel 2
Why are people wasting their time making this game? Why am I wasting my time writing about this game?

Rock Band Anything
I hate to say it, but I don't want to see any additions to my favorite music game franchise this year. Rock Band 2 plays very well, thank you very much, and DLC can tide me over for another year. That will give the developers another year to work out more legal deals and provide some innovative new features. And by all means, please cancel Green Day: Rock Band and just release Dookie as DLC. That's all we want, anyway.
